In this time when public attention is turned to the death of Steve Jobs, Orticanoodles chooses to represent Bill Gates, the first antagonist par excellence. Considered the second richest man in the world and the richest man in the United States, Bill Gates has dedicated his life to research and development computer, so designing the first personal computer in an era where the technology did not exist. Orticanoodles seesBill Gates as an alien who has brought knowledge to the world. Like the best sciencefiction film, in which the alien appears initially in the service of humanity, then reveals his interest in the conquest of the world. As in all recent series of works dedicated to the great leader and media personality known, even Bill Gates becomes a monster, heis deprived of the filtered image proposed by the media, blotting out the side surface of its image. The message is distorted and becomes social criticism.

ORTICANOODLES LIMITED EDITION

Lo sviluppo dei nostri ultimi progetti propone l’immagine del teschio in una serie dedicata ai ritratti di grandi leader e personaggi mediaticamente noti che appaiono però decorticati e mostrificati, a volte per privarli del lato più superficiale della loro immagine altre volte per deformarne il messaggio e fare critica sociale.
La chiave estetica che contraddistingue tutto il nostro lavoro è la matrice POP.
La Pop Art è in netta contrapposizione con l’eccessivo intellettualismo dell’Espressionismo Astratto e rivolge la propria attenzione agli oggetti, ai miti e ai linguaggi della società dei consumi e va intesa come arte di massa, cioè prodotta in serie.
E poiché la massa non ha volto, l’arte che la esprime deve essere il più possibile anonima: solo così potrà essere compresa e accettata dal maggior numero possibile di persone.
Attraverso quest’analisi il nostro lavoro si concentra sullo studio di personaggi famosi che vengono privati dell’immagine filtrata proposta dai più diffusi mezzi di comunicazione. I personaggi perdono la propria connotazione storica o politica, diventando icone di se stessi, e attraverso di esse vi è la riconoscibilità ma anche la decontestualizzazione dalla propria “storia” fino a diventare crani vuoti.

Venerdì 11 marzo la collezione ziguline poster edition è sbarcata presso la libreria Ubik di Napoli che diventa così il nostro nuovo punto di distribuzione in Campania. Per l’occasione abbiamo presentato l’ultimo arrivato in ordine di tempo della nostra collezione. Si tratta del lavoro realizzato dal duo milanese Orticanoodles, tra i nostri artisti preferiti, autori di un’illustrazione intitolata “Italians do it better“, rendendo omaggio, a modo loro, ad un grande della storia politica italiana. Indovinate un po’ chi è? Bravi è proprio lui, il grande gobbo, il divo dei divi. Chi più di lui poteva incarnare il “meglio” dell’Italian style, quello per cui ci conoscono anche in Mongolia. Quel “savoir faire” che il mondo intero ci invidia e che continua ad essere praticato dagli attuali personaggi della scena politica (e non solo) italiana e che con molta perizia cercano di tramandare questa nostra tradizione. Siamo molto contenti di questo lavoro, anche perchè segue la saga dei “decorticati“, un interessante filone che Orticanoodles sta proponendo con successo nei loro ultimi lavori.  Come tutti poster della collezione anche Italians do it better viene riprodotto in serie limitata a 50 copie, su carta cotone 100%, mediante stampa ad alta risoluzione.

La Coca Cola bottle est symptomatique de l’intérêt que porte les Orticanoodles à la tradition du Pop Art, tant dans son versant américain avec Andy Warhol que dans son pendant italien avec les grands acteurs de l’Arte Povera. Les Orticanoodles se positionnent contre la société de consommation telle qu’elle se construit de façon irréversible depuis les années 60 et Coca Cola reste ainsi considéré comme son emblème par excellence. Orticanoodles est un couple d’artistes qui vit et travaille à Milan en Italie puisant à la fois dans la culture savante et la culture populaire. Il cultive à la fois un goût pour le pop art de Andy Warhol et les objets de la vie quotidienne, mais aussi pour la tradition classique qu’il détourne avec des natures mortes contemporaines et des paysages urbains. Il a choisi la figure du Christ comme emblème de son oeuvre, qui est à lire comme une propagande prônant utopie et liberté. Par ailleurs graphiste, il rend ainsi hommage à Shepard Fairey, maître du genre.
