Jun 6

During the second week of June (8-12 June) we, Project ASA, organise our first event. Happenings such as exhibition openings, paint jams and afterparties are taking place within a period of five days.

Locations are: Bobs Youth Hostel, Bep Gallery, Outland Records Gallery, De Duivel, The Thought Gallery, GO Gallery and afterparties at Sugar Factory (Hells Kitchen) and Flexbar (Undercover). There might even be an exciting outdoors location. Ooooh…

Artists who will be invading Amsterdam are coming all the way from countries such as Canada, Italy, England and of course The Netherlands itself.

We are very proud to have the following artists at our first event: The London Police, Hugo Kaagman, Pez, Ives. One, Galo, Flying Fortress, K74, NOL, Fake, Farkfk, Recall One, Orticanoodles, Faunagraphic, Bue The Warrior, Chase and Indigo.

We would not be surprised if the invited artists will leave their trademark outside on the streets in Amsterdam.

ABOUT:

Project Amsterdam Street Art (Project ASA) is a young organisation with creative artists and entrepreneurs, who have a passion for street art. We see that street art-wise something is missing in Amsterdam. Similar European cities already have diverse street art events. Through organising street art related (sub) events in Amsterdam, we are aiming to get to a same level as other European cities.

There are lots of exciting developments going on in the street art scene. Artists improve their techniques. Street art is becoming an accepted form of art in the international artscene. The streets can be seen as an open gallery, which can be visited day and night. Just look around you and be surprised and amazed. Street art is what makes the streetscape more attractive and beautiful.

Our goal is to set up an annual recurrent event and that it will become recognized in the European street art scene.

“ORTICANOODLES”

“Coca Cola bottle.

At once a technique and a movement, the stencil has inscribed itself into the French tradition of urban art which dates back to the 1980’s and the punk generation. The stencil nowadays is emulated everywhere in the world; its presence felt in the streets as much as in the gallery or salesroom. Along with the expansion of contemporary graphic design and illustration, the stencil has defined itself as a mode of expression and an artistic movement for the 21st century. Spacejunk has proposed then to challenge a certain number of its artists who have had little or no experience working in this medium, to face off with a group of European and American artists specialized in the field during the course of the exhibit. The selection of artists was carried out by Samantha Longhi, Europe’s stencil expert. And now, there’s only one thing left for you to do: enter into the arena of the exhibit “Stencil Only”.

Artists participating : Vinz (France) – Odö (France) – C215 (France) – Coeur (France) – Sadhu (France)- Koleszar(USA)- Joe Lurato(USA) – Jana & Js (Austria) – Iamdoom (Holland)- Leckomio(Germany)- Orticanoodles(Italia)- Epsylon Point (France) – Artiste-Ouvrier(France)- NicolasThomas(France) – STF / StéphaneMoscato (France) – Logan Hicks(USA)- Nikodem(France)

URBANPAINTING XMAS SHOW

URBANPAINTING XMAS SHOW (UPXS) www.urbanpainting.org

Line Up: 2501, Airone, Asker, BR1, Dem, Dildo Society, El Gato Chimney, Gatto Nero, Ivan, JB Rock, Knore, Koes, Lucamaleonte, Mambo, Mr Wany, Neve, Orticanoodles, Ozmo, Pao, Peeta, Pho, Ryan Spring Dooley, Sea, Senso, Sonda, Sten&Lex, Tawa, Termine, Tvboy, Weik, ZibeDome(Germany), M-City (Poland), C215(France), Conor Harrington (Ireland).

Inspired by New York graffiti of the 1970s, stencil art is a form of street art, or urban art as it is often called, which has sprung up all over the globe in the last two decades. Now a respected art movement and refined art-form, it has long moved off the streets and into galleries and art spaces.Urban Art Agenda brings together some of the most prolific stencil artists from around the world in an unique showcase, presented by PinXit Arts & Events Management and curated by JD Mittmann, director of FamousWhenDead Gallery.

The exhibition features works by A1one (Tehran), David Soukup (Chicago), ELK (Canberra), El Moocho (Melbourne), HaHa (Melbourne), Izolag (Salvador), Jana and JS (Salzburg), Jef Aerosol (Lille), Kenji Nakayama (Boston), Mandarina Brausewetter (Vienna), Orticanoodles (Milan), Ozi (São Paulo), Penny (London), XOOOOX (Berlin).

The first two instalments of UrbanArtAgenda were presented in 2007 in Shed 4 at the Melbourne Docklands as part of International Design Festival and in Perth as part of the Alphabet City Festival at the ArtRage Complex.

UrbanArtAgenda#3 was launched at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in July and will now be shown in Melbourne as part of the Fringe Festival and before touring to Sydney and Brisbane in October and September.

UrbanArtAgenda#3 will also be presented as part of the Art & About Festival in Sydney 1 – 24 October.

stencil on canvas 100×100x6 – 2009
